Why Organic?

For us, organic is a way of life. It helps protect wildlife, reduce pesticides & additives, and secure a future for our food. We are true believers in the benefits of using organic produce wherever possible. That means all vegetables, herbs, seasoning and animal products we use are Soil Association certified organic.

What is the soil association?

It means an incredible amount to us that we’re able to add this mark to our pouches: It’s the only organic certification in the UK underpinned by law, it shows that our kitchen and suppliers are inspected at least once a year and that our bones and ingredients are from animals raised to the highest possible welfare standards - both in the UK and the world!

What does organic mean?

The Soil Association describes organic as "working with nature, not against it. It means higher levels of animal welfare, lower levels of pesticides, no manufactured herbicides or artificial fertilisers and more environmentally sustainable management of the land and natural environment - this means more wildlife!"

THE BENEFITS TO THE PLANET

FEWER PESTICIDES - Organic farmers use a whole ecosystem to keep pests under control, helping to protect wildlife.

FEWER ANTIBIOTICS - Farm animals account for 30% of all antibiotics used in the UK. Soil Association organic farming standards ban the routine use of antibiotics, helping protect their effectiveness.

MORE FREEDOM - Free-range animals that are encouraged to forage, graze and roam, with plenty of space, fresh air, and conditions that allow them to move about naturally.

THE BENEFITS TO OUR BODIES

Organic meat contains around 50% more omega-3 fatty acids than non-organic and has slightly lower concentrations of two saturated fats

Organically produced vegetables contain up to 68% more antioxidants than non-organic and concentrations of pesticides and the toxic heavy metal cadmium.

Are our broths certified Organic?

Yes! All our products are organic except our Sustainably-Caught Wild Fish Broth (That's because, by its very nature, wild fish cannot be certified organic) The organic certification means we can trace each of our ingredients back to its organic source.
